Memberships

Since 2003, Unnayan Onneshan has earned respect and recognition in the field of research and advocacy, by remaining strongly independent, disseminating expertise and proposing alternative and innovative solutions to global issues. Therefore, Unnayan Onneshan now possess either an observatory status, a consultative status, or a membership within the following international organisations. 


 

ecosoc    Since 2011, Unnayan Onneshan enjoys special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the organ responsible for coordinating the economic, social and related work of 14 UN specialized agencies, their functional commissions and five regional commissions.
     
unfccc   Bangladesh being amongst the countries most likely to be affected by climate change's effects, Unnayan Onneshan follows closely the work of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). We have been enjoying observatory status at the UNFCCC since 2012. 
    

 

cbd    The Convention on Bioglogical Diversity has for objective to develop national straties for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity. Unnayan Onneshan has been acting as an expert in different committees of experts since 2004.

  Unnayan Onneshan is a member of the Satoyama Initiative, which aims to conserve sustainable human-influenced natural environments (Socio-Ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes; SEPLS) through broader global recognition of their value.

IUCNlogo

  The International Union for the Conservation of Nature regroups more that 1,200 member organisations actively involved in the protection on the environment, and sustainable development. Unnayan Onneshan has been a member since 2012. 
     
cansa   Unnayan Onneshan sits as a member of the Board of the Regional Network on Climate Change, which is part of the Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA).
    Imagine a New South Asia (INSA) is a regional network to advance a shared sense of the South Asian vision to  increased policy convergence on key issues, more regional cooperation, the joint initiative of the government as well as at the civil society level.  The core constituencies of the alliance are think-tanks, media and politicians who are engaged in evidence-based policy advocacy by generating new ideas and targeted learning for establishing a people's South Asiagional cooperation.
