In House Seminar on ‘Tax System in Bangladesh’

An in-house seminar on ‘Tax System in Bangladesh’ has been held on 19 June, 2013 at 4.00 pm in Unnayan Onneshan’s conference room. Ms. Nibedita Ray, Research Assistant from Economic Policy Unit presented her paper with an eye to examining the tax rate scenario in Bangladesh compared to the South-Asian countries. The paper further aims at exploring the scenario of NBR and Non NBR tax revenue, uncovering the tax evasion of multinational companies as well as inspecting the scenario of black money and revenue earning over the years.The Chair, Mr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir was present in the seminar along with other researchers of the organisation. In the end,The Chair conveyed some necessary observations for further progress of the paper followed by other audiences.

Workshop on ‘How to create an Interactive and Dynamic Presentation’

The first part of a two-day workshop on ‘How to create an Interactive and Dynamic Presentation’ has taken place at Unnayan Onneshan’s conference room on 2 July , 2013 at 12.00 pm. Sophie Letendre, Research Intern of the organisation conveyed this workshop with a view to disseminating better research results by outstanding presentation style. The workshop contents mainly included how to plan for an effective presentation, the way of presenting and how to best summarise it in the end. The presenter also focused on practicing reformulation in a presentation using ‘the onion technique’ as well as managing the best time structure to grab the attention of the audience. All the researchers of the organisation enjoyed the didactic workshop in an interactive session.

Workshop on ‘How to make presentation slides following UO Style Guide’

The second part of the two-day workshop on ‘How to make presentation slides following UO Style Guide’ has been organised at Unnayan Onneshan’s conference room on 3 July, 2013 at 12.00 pm. Mr.A.Z.M. Saleh, Research and Programme Associate of UO anchored this workshop with the intention of ensuring the best use of Unnayan Onneshan Style Guide in presenting research works. Mentioning the necessity of using Style Guide, the presenter focused and directed about the new fonts, colour, graphs, logo of UO and reference style by acquainting the new Microsoft PowerPoint Slide of Unnayan Onneshan along with its proper manoeuvre. In the later part, Mr. Saleh also introduced another online presentation slide ‘Prezi’, a more dynamic and catchy one in style to the researchers. The workshop is proved a useful one by the active presence of all the researchers.

Workshop on ‘How to make an excellent content of a presentation’

The final part of the two-day workshop on ‘How to make an excellent content of a presentation’ has been organised at Unnayan Onneshan’s conference room on 11 July, 2013 at 3.15 pm. Mr.M.A.Baten, Senior Researcher of the organisation conducted the workshop as a whole. The workshop started with a demo presentation entitled ‘Employment Scenario of Bangladesh ’ by Mr. Ayub Ali from Social Policy unit followed by another presentation namely ‘Monetary Policy Statement of Bangladesh’ by Nibedita Roy from Economic Policy unit. Later on, Mr. Baten made his useful and suggestive remarks on those presentations with a view to making them more attractive and prominent by a catchy starter, using transitional smoothness in slide, proper time budgeting as well as nice ending of the presentation. Finally, the interactive question-answer session from all the researchers made the workshop an effectual one.

Observing the 10th Foundation Anniversary of Unnayan Onneshan

10th anniUnnayan Onneshan observed its glorious 10th anniversary on 31 August, 2013 in the conference room of the organisation. Over the last ten years, this organisation came a long way with science-led independent research, new approaches to public policies, innovative model on the ground as well as capacity building and community based management system in the company of skilled and experienced researchers. On this occasion, the whole office building was decorated nicely with balloons, flowers, colorful papers and cloths. The program began with the introductory utterance of the Chair, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir who mentioned the achievements, deficiencies, strategic goals and future journey towards a new aspiration and dream through ‘ Growing Together Sustainably ’. After that, the former employees of the organisation cut the cake of 10th anniversary to unwrap the occasion. The session was then followed by sharing and reminiscing of the beautiful memories among the existing and former employees while working in the organisation. All the guests presented there were able to enjoy this gossiping session enormously. In the end, the guests were served with so delicious dinner and deserts that everybody’s appetite went very high. This occasion brought all the employees, Board of trustees, journalists and all other invited guests under the umbrella of sweet memory.
