An in-house seminar on 'Scenario of Remittance inflow in Bangladesh' has been held on 18 October, 2012 at 4.45 pm in the conference room of Unnayan Onneshan. Ms. Nibedita Ray, Research Assistant from Economic Policy Unit presented her paper with a view to finding out the importance of remittance in the economy of Bangladesh, remittance inflow in Middle East region as well as Non-Middle East regions and to explore the position of remittance as percentage of GDP and export earnings. Mr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir as the Chair along with other researchers of the organisation was present in the seminar. The Chair incorporated some valuable comments for further improvement of the paper at the end of the seminar.
An in-house seminar on ’Community Food Bank Manual’’ has been held on 14 January 2012 in the conference room of Unnayan Onneshan. Mr. Abdul Momin Mollah, Research Assistant presented a paper entitled ’Community Food Bank Manual’ in the presence of Mr. Rashed al Mahmud Titumir as the chair, Mr. Palash Kanti Das, the Director of the organization along with other researchers. The paper has published the beneficiary side of Community Food Bank indicating the presented manual as a well planned operational and strategy guideline for a sustainable Food Bank establishment and management in the community level.
A superb in-house seminar was held in Unnayan Onneshan-The Innovators on 21 January 2012.A presentation on the MEU, January 2011 (Foreign Direct Investment) was given by A.Z.M. Saleh. After defining some key terms, the presenter gave the rationale of the study which includes the exploration of the current dynamics of FDI inflow in Bangladesh. With the help of some figures, A.Z.M. Saleh described the dynamics of FDI inflow, the sectorial distribution of FDI and country-wise sources of FDI. Finally, the presenter indicated the key factors for the foreign investors. This productive presentation was followed by a question answer session participated by the audience including the director Polash Kanti Dash and the chairperson Rashed Al-Mahmud Titumir. The audience actively participated through discussions to improve the report. Nibedita Roy is another author of this report.
An in-house seminar on “Inequality of Primary Education in Bangladesh” has been presented by Jannatul Ferdaush (Junior Research Assistant - I) that took place at the Conference Room of Unnayan Onneshan on 3 October 2011. The result of this study is to not only determine the socio-economic factors affecting unequal primary education but also to define what should be given priority for resolving the backdrops of unequal education. The projections provided in the presentation indicate that the country is well on the track to achieve some of the targets of the National Plan for Action - II within the scheduled time.
An excellent in-house seminar was held in Unnayan Onneshan-The Innovators on 21 January 2012. The paper entitled “Year Round Agriculture [EVERY -Practicing Hanging vegetable, floating vegetable]-SDS” was presented by Syed Moazzem Hossain.With the objective of studying how the communities of this area will face climate changes aggravated problem by adopting innovative climate adoptable agricultural practices, his paper includes the rationale, goal and objectives, hypothesis, methods and major findings of the study. This analysis was followed by a question answer session participated by the audience including the director Polash Kanti Dash and the chairperson Rashed Al-Mahmud Titumir. The honorable audience gave their observations on the analysis to improve the research report.
