Identity and Culture

Identity and culture possesses a relationship where culture shapes identity and identity influences cultural distribution. The UO research on identity and culture focuses on how cultural practices contribute in forming social institution and its influence on political process. Researchers also examine a wide variety of issues and fields, from the role of television and social media, to explorations of the ways in which interactive media technologies are used for commercial and government surveillance, and to the cultural consequences of nationalism, capitalism, and globalisation.
