An in-house seminar has been held on 30 April, 2013, Tuesday at 12.00 pm in the conference room of Unnayan Onneshan. On this occasion, Md. Abdul Latif Mahmud and Muraduzzaman Akand presented their paper on ‘Banking Sector in Bangladesh’. The study aims to seek the existing situation as well as present drawbacks in policy level of banking sector in Bangladesh. The seminar was followed by an active question answer session participated by the audiences. Lastly the Chair, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir conveyed his insightful scrutiny on the topic to further develop the research report.

 Seminars on “Present Power Sector Condition; Taxation Synopsis and External Sector of Bangladesh”

21 march 2013 seminar report

An in-house seminar (consisting of three presentations from Economic Policy Unit) had been organised on 21 March 2013, Thursday at the conference room of Unnayan Onneshan. The seminar began with a brief presentation from Md.Abdul Latif Mahmud, who submitted a snapshot of Present Power Sector Condition of Bangladesh focusing on the existing problems as well as the present drawbacks in policy level in this sector. The next presenter Mr. Md. Muraduzzaman made an attempt to show the scenario and trends of the taxation systems in his paper Taxation Synopsis of Bangladesh. In the last part of the seminar, in her paper External Sector, Ms. Nibedita Roy focused on the impact of 4th time taking monetary policy as well as the possibility to meet up the target of Six Five Year Plan (SFYP). With his valuable suggestions and appreciation, Mr. Rashed al Mahmud Titumir chaired the seminar. The seminar, finally, ended with the comments of researchers who shared their views and comments in the discussion session.

 In House Seminar on the upcoming book ‘EXIGENCY OR EXPEDIENCY? : State of Bangladesh Economy and Development 2012-2013.

EXIGENCY OR EXPEDIENCY

An in-house seminar on the upcoming book of Unnayan Onneshan (UO) on Bangladesh Economy and Development namely EXIGENCY OR EXPEDIENCY?: State of Bangladesh Economy and Development 2012-2013 has been held on 20 March, 2013 at 3.00 pm in the conference room of UO. Mr. Aslam Hossain, Mr. Tauhid Hossain Khan, Mr. Ayub Ali and Mr. Md. Al Amin Islam presented their respective book chapters encompassing the issue of Capital Market, Inequality and Poverty, Employment and Women respectively. The seminar intended to analyze the development situation as well as to focus the policy issues to prevail over the forthcoming challenges covered in the book. This productive seminar was followed by a question answer session participated by the audiences including the chairperson Rashed Al-Mahmud Titumir and all other researchers. The audience actively participated through discussions to further improve the forthcoming book.

Institution Matters-State of Women in Bangladesh 2013

An in-house seminar on the upcoming book of Unnayan Onneshan (UO) on women namely ‘Institution Matters: State of Women in Bangladesh 2013’ has been held on 16 January, 2013 at 12.00 pm in the conference room of UO. Mr. K.M. Mustafizur Rahman, Research Associate from Social Policy unit presented the book comprises different socio-economic and socio-cultural issues related to women such as Socio-Demographic and Economic Profile, Health, Education, Employment, Violence against Woman, Poverty, and Microfinance for woman with a view to indicating the progresses that have been made in the present time as well as to find the further way to overcome the forthcoming challenges in the concerned issues. The seminar consisted of witty comments, suggestions and a question-answer session from both the presenter and the audiences. Mr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, the Chair along with all other researchers was present on the occasion.
