CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT
The Unit forms a focused, interdisciplinary programme of research and advocacy to integrate rigorous natural and social sciences to develop transformational pathways for sustainable conservation and the use of ecosystem and promotion of nature-based solutions. It works in the field of biodiversity conservation, community based management, traditional knowledge, multiple values and ecosystem services of nature, ecosystem wellbeing. The unit conducts several action researches in the Sundarbans- the largest single tract contiguous mangrove forest in the world and attempts to promote customary sustainable use and community based innovation following traditional knowledge.
