The Unnayan Onneshan believes that a defined value system could contribute to the culture and ultimate success of organization. The Organization, therefore, has developed its own value system and persistently following in its activities.  Being a think tank the organization is subject to societal expectations that must be accommodated within an organizational values system. Generally, Organizations often fail to reward members who uphold or enact the organization’s values, which can lead to lack of motivation and commitment to the organization. Unlike others, to address the problem, Unnayan Onneshan follows a point based career path system where an employee’s position and salary commensurate with his/her points obtained. The whole process is transparent and employees themselves can calculate their acquired points.

The Unnayan Onneshan’s value system operates for both terminal and instrumental ends. At Terminal end, the organization strictly follows editorial independence rule that is free from bias and external pressures. The organization also maintains quality in research through maintaining rigour and robustness. Likewise at instrumental end, the organization maintains fairness, diversity and equality principles for its employees. A detailed function of  UO’s value system is given below:

Unnayan Onneshan maintains integrity of having editorial independence. The organization’s research, public affairs and policy advice always build on knowledge, evidence and rigour irrespective of individual choice, ideology no matter whether they are funders, staffs or powerful politicians.

HIGH QUALITY

Improvisation and continuous improvement is the key to UO working approach. The organization endeavors  to ensure  best practice, innovative approaches in its research, policy advice and public affairs.

FAIRNESS, DIVERSITY & EQUALITY

Ideologically Unnayan Onneshan believes in fairness, diversity and equality.  The organization works for raising voice of the unheard. Mainstreaming inclusionary principle in work and  organizational development the organization fit its employment, disciplines and processes are appropriate for an institute focused on  human development.

WORKING TOGETHER

The organization works in collaboration with multiple partners ranging from community organization to government and international organisations. A range of stakeholders are always consulted for setting its agenda.

There is open reporting on the use of public funds, with full communication of our work to our donors, research subjects and partners. Every year the organization publishes its audit report in their website for as public information.

Environmental sustainability is not only issue of promotion through research  by the UO, but also resources are used within organization  in a sustainable way that reflects consciousness of the impact on the environment.
